Recreation Assistant (Beach Lifeguard)

Bellows Air Force Station is seeking a Recreation Assistant to serve as a Beach Lifeguard supporting safe recreational use of the installationโs beach and oceanfront facilities.
This position is responsible for monitoring beach conditions, enforcing safety regulations, and assisting guests participating in recreational beach activities.

Location: Bellows Air Force Station, Waimanalo, HI
Key responsibilities include monitoring ocean conditions, warning patrons of unsafe situations such as strong currents or hazardous surf, responding to emergencies, and providing first aid or CPR when required. Lifeguards patrol the beach, observe swimmers for potential hazards, and help maintain safe beach operations.
This role also assists with recreation programs and activities including snorkeling, kayaking, and boogie boarding while supporting water safety instruction for military members, families, and authorized guests.
Applicants should have practical knowledge of swimming activities, safety procedures, and water rescue equipment. Candidates must be able to pass an ocean swim test including a 500-meter swim and 400-meter rescue board test.
