Lei Day is a statewide celebration in Hawai’i of the making and wearing of lei and to honor the Hawaiian culture. First celebrated in 1928, Lei Day is recognized as part of the May Day events celebrated throughout the state, including parades, dances, and, of course, giving, receiving, and wearing lei.
