Na Mokulua Recreational Units

Na Mokulua Recreational Units
Moku Nui (pronounced, Mo Coo New E)
Moku Iki (pronounced, Mo Coo E Key)

Na Mokulua, in Hawaiian, meaning "the two islands", is the name of the two islets just offshore, on the most northern portion of Bellows Air Force Station. It's common to hear the local residents (kamaaina's) referring to these islands as "the Moks", or the "twin islands". Moku Nui, located on the north side, is the larger of the two islands and the smaller known as Moku Iki.

The Na Mokulua Recreational Lodging Units are named after these islands. The building located on the most northern side of Bellows AFS, near Bishop Lane, is  "Moku Nui", and the southern building is "Moku Iki".

The lane to access the Moku Nui and Moku Iki was named "Bishop Lane", in honor of 2nd Lt Samuel Bishop. Lt Bishop was shot down by Japanese pilots on the morning of December 7th 1941. His plane crashed into the waters just offshore, Lt Bishop was able to swim back to the shores of Bellows AFS.

The Moku Nui and Moku Iki building each consist of 4 upper and 4 lower units. All units include central air conditioning, ceiling fans, 2 bedrooms, a living room, fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom. The Moku Nui and Moku Iki each have an ADA unit on the lower level. All upper level units include an outer deck with lounge chairs, the lower units have an outside patio area with a table and chairs. These units do not include, or allow BBQ grills. We are currently in the planning stages to create a community BBQ area.
